A World First in Hydrogen Storage

Hydrogen,
Held Solid.

Hydrogen is the cleanest fuel there is. The hard part has always been storing it. Stellar has solved that.

Stellar holds hydrogen inside solid metal, the way a sponge holds water. No high pressure tanks, nothing frozen, nothing to boil away. It is the fuel system inside Stellar Jet, which refuels in 10 minutes.

Both Stellar Jet aircraft carry their hydrogen in solid metal hydride, never as a liquid and never frozen.

Safe, compact fuel is what makes a hydrogen aircraft practical. Stellar Jet takes off and lands vertically, cruises like a jet and refuels in 10 minutes, with zero emissions in operation.

A World First

The Leader inSolid-State Hydrogen.

Hydrogen is the cleanest fuel there is. The hard part has always been storing it. Stellar has solved that.

Today most hydrogen is either squeezed into heavy tanks at up to 700 times atmospheric pressure, or chilled into a liquid colder than minus 250°C. Both are expensive, complex and hard to handle.

Stellar stores hydrogen a different way: inside a solid metal, the way a sponge holds water. It fills at low pressure, gives the hydrogen back with gentle warmth, and there is nothing to freeze and nothing to boil away.

It is the technology behind Stellar Jet. Flight testing is scheduled for late 2026, with the exact window confirmed once ground testing completes.

Refuelling

Simpler Stations.Lower Cost.

A conventional hydrogen station needs ultra high pressure compressors and storage banks. Stellar's tank fills at low pressure, so the equipment is far simpler and far cheaper to build.

Pair it with on site green hydrogen and the fuel is made, stored and used in the same place.

The Technical Detail

Gas, Liquidor Solid.

Compressed Gas

The current standard

  • Stored at 350 to 700 bar
  • Needs ultra high pressure compressors and storage banks
  • Heavy, cylindrical pressure vessels

Liquid Hydrogen

Cryogenic

  • Chilled to minus 253°C
  • Boil-off losses over time
  • Complex insulated tanks and handling

Solid-State

Stellar

  • Fills at around 15 to 50 bar, near room temperature
  • No cryogenics and no boil-off
  • Simpler, lower cost refuelling equipment
  • Common metals, no rare earth elements

Fill

Hydrogen is fed into the cartridge at low pressure, around 15 to 50 bar, and absorbed straight into the metal alloy. A cooling loop carries away the heat that absorption creates.

  • Low pressure, near room temperature
  • Standard low pressure transfer equipment
  • Faster fills come from better cooling

Where the Testing Stands

Proven Stepby Step.

2025
Laboratory

Validated at the Institute of Electrochemistry and Energy Systems, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Samples absorbed hydrogen at just 15 bar and 20 to 50°C, with stable performance over repeated cycles.

Dec 2025
Field Validation

Five cartridges each ran a 100 W fuel cell for 53 minutes, with no external heating, no leakage and no pressure instability.

2026
Independent Verification

A major European automaker tested a cartridge on its own bench: 8 percent hydrogen by weight at only 30 bar, in under 30 minutes, below 60°C.

Next
Scale Up

A redesigned cylinder with dedicated connections and internal cooling, then a larger unit holding around 200 grams of hydrogen and a full demonstrator.
